Membership Area and Chapter Dues

The Richmond Area Chapter (RAC-MOAA) is a Virginia non-profit, non-stock corporation and an affiliate of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), with membership open to all active-duty, reserve, retired or former commissioned officers of the seven uniformed services and their components (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Public Health Service and NOAA), and their widows, living in the greater Richmond Area. This includes the Virginia counties of:  Amelia, Caroline, Charles City, Chesterfield, Henrico, Goochland, Hanover, King and Queen, King William, Louisa, New Kent, Powhatan and Prince George, and the City of Richmond. Our Chapter now has over 600 members and continues to grow. If you are in doubt as to whether or not you are within our membership area, send us an e-mail by clicking here (be sure to include your name), or call our Membership Chairman, CDR John Baumgarten at 804-379-7586. Chapter dues for 2018 will be $20.00 per year for Regular (officer) members, $10.00 per year for "Paperless" regular members and $10.00 per year for Auxiliary members.

For regular membership, you must be an active member of the MOAA, or be willing to join national MOAA, to belong to our local Chapter. We can assist you with both local and national membership applications. If you join our chapter now, we'll give you FREE membership for the year 2018 and offer you the opportunity to become a dues-paying member for 2019. Click here to explore joining RAC-MOAA.

Chapter Meetings and Activities

We host dinner meetings at the Meadowbrook Country Club located at 3800 Cogbill Road, on the fourth Wednesday of January, March, May, September and November each year, and have an annual Holiday Gala in early December. In addition, our Programs Committee plans and hosts social outings, which may feature: river and harbor cruises, tours of historical sites, theatrical presentations, etc. Some outings include transportation, and may include lunches, dinners and refreshments, as appropriate. All outings are well-planned to ensure quality service and amenities.

The Chapter's Board of Directors meets every month at American Legion Headquarters in Richmond. Chapter members are invited to attend these meetings. For details on the board meetings contact the chapter Secretary. To view a schedule of our meetings for 2018 click here.
